A Clean And Simple Hop!

Hello! Welcome to the Magnolia-licious Clean and Simple Blog
Hop!

They assigned me as stop #1 today because this was my idea....I am pretty
sure this is suppose to be punishment and not a spot of honor!
LOL!!
When it was decided that we would have a Clean and Simple Hop I think heard
groans all the way from Reno! (heehee) We even had to find a
definition of what "clean and simple" cards were! It's just
that we get so use to doing things one way that we forget to try something
different. Or go back to a style we use to have. Many of
us like to use lots of layers and embellies...but when I visit the gallery on
SCS, I often see "CAS" (clean & simple) cards that look so elegant and
lovely. And I actually view them in amazement and think:
how do they make it look so easy, yet so beautiful?! I can't wrap my
mind around that. So several months ago I started adding some
more CAS cards to my repertoire. And you know what?
Sure, I always like my layers of pretty papers...but I find it refreshing to
"simple down" and not be so fussy. The thing about Magnolia images
are that they are SO DANG ADORABLE, that they look great on any style of
card!

When I make my usual style of card I typically only get one done in a
"session". (2-3 hours of the night) I hem and haw of
what layout to use, (that's why I love sketch challenges! cuts off some of
the time!) I sort through paper and more paper deciding on a color and what
patterns to use...where to use them on the layout. Then the
embellies...I don't have the right color...What should I fill this space
with?...it looks like too much...it looks unbalanced...it doesn't look right at
all! With CAS, there is still some of this hemming &
hawing....but only about 1/2 as much. :)

The biggest problem I have with CAS is that if I make a mistake there isn't
much room for covering up. I make lots of mistakes. I
was NOT going to ever share this elephant card with you on this
blog. I could lie and say Orla (my 8 yr old) made it.
But let's face it, we all make boo boo's and not every card can be our
masterpiece. right?
I spent about 35+ minutes coloring this pretty Ellie. I was pretty
happy with it in the end. Then I stamped the sentiment and
apparently got purple ink on a finger/thumb and smudged it right under Ellie's
tail. :( WAH!

So I thought I would cut her out....but then I thought that would get away
from CAS. so I decided to sponge ink around the image....I didn't so
much like it...hated it would be a better term. But I figured: well,
maybe if I layer it...still no dice. I just don't like this
card. On a "fussy" card I would have cut Ellie out ...or when in
trouble you can always stick a few flowers or something on there to cover up the
mistake! Oh well....just goes to show you that we are human and not
every card makes it to the blog! And some that do...probably would
have been best left on the craft room floor too! LOL! It's
kind of like looking back at old photos of ourselves and wondering what the heck
were we thinking about with that haircut...or those huge glasses....or that
sweater!?! UGH!

You can get your own Elephant
and
Tilda with a Spoon
at Magnolia-licious.

***Next stop on the hop is the Brilliant
Becca
! The thing about Becca is that she
totally rocks ANY and EVERY style card!
***

When you finish the hop make a last stop over at the Magnolia-licious-highlites
blog. (if you didn't start there). Where you can get the deets
about making your own CAS style card and winning a prize!

Speaking of a prize...if you have are still reading this, then you deserve
one! How about this adorable Tilda holding a Candy Cane
stamp?!

Leave a comment on this post to be entered. I will announce the
winner next week!

Have an Astounding Friday!

Creative Block

Stamps: Parrot, Jungle Flowers, garland, vines; sentiments are ret. from SU!
Paper: My Minds Eye Penny Lane Collection
Ink: Memento Black; Copics
Other: Ribbon; Dew Drops; Nesties; Star Dust Stickles;
Card Measures 6x6

Hello! Thanks for stopping by today! I know I haven't been posting as often lately. Sorry for this. I am just not feeling that creative and feeling kind of burnt on on blogging. Hopefully my stampin' and bloggin' mojo will come back soon. :) I did muster up this card...it did take me 2 nights to make. My typical is one card a night. But I spent alot of time watching TV in between. I have to admit that I am a reality show junkie! It's one of those guilty pleasures! I also like all those crime dramas like CSI (the original only), Criminal Minds, or NCIS. I am looking forward to the new NCIS coming this fall. I usually don't like the spin offs...but It stars LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell. OK...those 2 are totally hunks from my younger years! LOL!!!
I also love House. Although I still have the last 2 episodes from last season still unwatched on my DVR. I better watch them as the new season starts soon. For comedies I like The Bing Bang Theory (TOO FUNNY), How I Met Your Mother, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. That last show reminds me of the Cathy comic strip in that I can always relate! LOL! I use to not be that interested in TV then a couple of years ago our TV broke. When we went out to buy a new one we had little choice but to get an HD flat screen. Well, the pictures on these (non-tube) TV's had me mesmerized! LOL!

Anyhooooooooooo, back to the card!!! (I always tell you that I get side-tracked easily!) As I try to every week, I used this week's Friday Sketchers sketch. All the stamps are available at Magnolia-licious...I linked each one direct in the recipe at the top.

>>>FYI: Leanne is giving away some GORJUSS blog candy HERE! Check it out!

****Speaking of giving stuff away the winner of my Halloween Treat Set is Eulanda!! Eulanda email me with your address!
Thanks to everyone for all your super sweet comments that you left about the set!

Have Wonderful Wednesday!

Hi Kerry! Love this card. Yep, can't find this image any where not even on the Magnolia-Sweden site so she has no name. I made a card with Tilda on the strawberry also and you make me laugh when you said 1/2 girl 1/2 strawberry! Love your coloring! What a generous blog candy offer! Cami

Hello! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you are enjoying a lovely August day! Kristen, myself and all our kids are off to Maine to the beach today. Hopefully we'll have a nice sunny, but not too hot day. That's not the forecast....but that's what I am hoping for!! LOL!

This Tilda stamp came in the Summer Stamp Kit from Sweden....but I cannot find her individually for sale anywhere else...including at the Magnolia Sweden website. So I have no idea what her name is or where you can get her if you didn't purchase the Summer Kit. I thought she was adorable....looks to me like she might be daydreaming! But I didn't quite know what to do with her. So I am taking a chance and hoping that she looks like she stopped for a rest in the strawberry field and is dreaming away. That is what I am going for anyhow. I hope that she doesn't look like to you that she is 1/2 girl and 1/2 strawberry. :) I used white flowers with yellow centers to embellish, hoping to emulate the strawberry flowers in the pic. I used this week's Friday's Sketchers sketch for my layout. This sketch was another one that I looked at and thought: "hmmmmm.....I am not sure about this one". But it always seems that I end up liking the final result. I know I say this all the time, but that is the great thing about various challenges....It's not your normal comfort zone, but you end up liking it! It's like when we were kids and insisted that we hated a certain food before we'd even try it....then loving it after giving it a try! hahaha

Onto the Blog Yummies!! I just want to thank you all for coming by to check out what I make and especially for all the encouraging comments that you leave! It REALLY MEANS A LOT to me that you want to come by and see what I made and that you take the time to let me know what you think. To show my appreciation I bought something that I think you will like. I was buying a set for me and added a second set in for you. (And a 3rd set in for Kristen! LOL!)
As I just ordered it a few days ago and don't yet have them in my hot little hands, I totally admit to swiping this picture off of "MickeyDee's" blog. Thanks MickeyDee!! It's a great picture of both the Martha Stewart Loop Border punch and the Loop Corner Punch AND what using them together produces. I can hardly wait to get them in my own hot little hands!!

Here's the Nitty Gritty:
Please post my blog candy on your blog with a link back here. Then leave a comment in this post by 12 noon (Eastern USA Time), on August 19th.

I will ship world wide.
I will randomly select a winner on August 19th.

Good Luck! And thank you again for being such great readers!!

Have a Fan-tab-u-licious Wednesday!!
