Holiday Treat Tins

I know that I am not the only one who buys up things from the Target Dollar Spot with intentions to alter/decorate these things and gift them during the holidays. Then the holidays come and go and the things that you needed 17 of are still sitting in the bag thrown in your craft room. Then all your stamping friends are talking about the newest cool thing they found on clearance at Staples and you go buy 12 of those. And the cycle continues.

I am SO guilty of this. I mean really bad. The worst part of it is that I have to buy these things in large quantities. I can't buy just 3 clear paint buckets for 50 cents at Staples...I have to buy all that is on the shelf. Well, maybe the worst part is that I never alter any!

So what do I have waiting to altered:
Dog Treat Tins (above)...about 10 more...from Target Dollar Spot
tin lunch boxes... about 15...from Oriental Trading
cardboard CD storage boxes...about 15...Target Dollar Spot
travel mugs...about 7...Dollar Tree
frames....about 5-6...Wal-Mart

and the most expensive :
12 birthday reminder calendar thingys from SU! at about $8 ea!

I know I must have other things but these are just off the top of my head.

My friend Kristen complains that if I got rid of all this clutter than there would be room in my craft room for her to come over and stamp. She is right. My craft room is big. big enough for many friends to come over and stamp. But I have so much stuff in there that there is no room. So I have decided to start using up this stuff.

The tins above I bought for $1 ea. They are plain white with black letters on them that say Dog Treats. But they were empty...apparently you had to supply your own treats. They are probably about 5 or so inches high. I could fill them with cookies or candies. Probably something I could give to the bus drivers or mail carriers. I guess if I were giving a gift card I could put it in there as a different type of gift wrap for it. Fill it with tissue paper around it or Hershey Kisses. They are wide too...12" paper wrapped around it isn't enough...their is about a half inch left uncovered. I used 5/8" grosgrain to cover that. It doesn't look bad. kind of a fancy seam.

So what do you have sitting around waiting for you to decorate?

Those are adorable and I know what you mean about collecting alterables and then doing nothing with them. I'm guilty of it too.

One of your blog fans would love to see all the clutter in your craft room, so how about a few pictures of it???

You did fantastic on the altering. I too would love to see before and after pics of the room. As for me I only have one thing in my room to be altered. I always have to do it right now!

The tins are wicked cute. I also have some of those tins, amoung other things to alter. I am happy to see you using some of what you have. What else are U going to alter. What will it be?

Those are so cute, Kerry!

I'm not big into altering because I know I will never get to it. I do have a Basic Grey lunch box that's been waiting for years. I have a couple of composition books and I also have a cute little mailbox that I bought from Kristen. She apparently has the same disease as you. She found those for a valentines class and bought the whole bunch! LOL

Kerry, you need to get those things altered and cleared out!!! That leaves you open to have friends over to stamp or additional room to buy some more!!! haha!!
These are great!! What wonderful holiday tins to use!

These are so cute! i tend to hoard things to alter also.
The closet in my stamp[ room is full of "projects" that are yet to be done. You did a great job on these! I'll have to visit Staples and add to my closet...lol.

I love your tins! Ok, so you want me to ADMIT to what I've collected??? lol I have tons of things; composition notebooks, various tin & glass containers, boardbooks, cd cases, clipboards etc etc. I had to get rid of a bunch of stuff when we moved. Some of it went into storage too since we couldnt bring it all with us.

Oh my word, I'm laughing so hard! If I didn't know better, I'd think you'd been snooping around in MY craft room! I have, ahem, a few things like this myself. Your little tins turned out precious, so way to go!! Maybe I should get busy and copy yours, TFS!
