In Remembrance

God Bless
Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy
1932-2009

I make it a point to keep controversial issues off my blog. I try to keep my personal views on religion/spirituality minimal. During the presidential election it was hard for me to not put up a "support" blinkie. I am pretty passionate about some things...but I also believe that there is a time and a place for everything. When I go to stamp blogs I go for a source of inspiration. I go for a break from my everyday life. And I try to give the same on my blog.

Initially, I was going to use a picture of beach chairs...or sunflowers...or fall leaves for this challenge. But I have been so moved by the life and death of our dedicated Senator, that I wanted to pay a tribute to Teddy. After all I am a lifelong Massachusetts resident. I am an Irish-American. I am a democrat. I am an American.

Ted Kennedy, like all humans, was not perfect. But he dedicated his life to the people of Massachusetts and the USA. I thank him for that.

I would appreciate that the comments section of this post not turn into a political debate. All inappropriate comments will be deleted. Remember what mama taught you: If you can't say anything nice than don't say anything at all.
In this great country we are each allowed to have our own opinions, views, feelings. Please respect mine and respect that this is MY blog.

Thank you.

Rest in Peace, Senator.

Lovely tribute to a fine American who dedicated his life to the American people. One does not have to be Irish-American, a democrat, a Catholic or a citizen of Massachusetts to recognize the good work he has done or be saddened by his passing. He worked as long as he was physically able to make sure that his projects would be passed on to others who would continue to work to make them become a reality. And as a man passes from this world on his journey to the next, it is certainly not the time to comment or even think of his past personal issues.

I'm on the same page as you concerning political/religious views. America lost one of its most endeared senators and political icons, and we as Americans should all take a moment to come together and remember that Ted Kennedy devoted his life to the country he loved. Rest in peace Senator, God bless, and thanks for your thoughtful tribute today Kerry.

I thought your ode to the Senator was totally lovely, and I hope you send that card to Patrick, or someone in his family. I love your blog and just signed up to be a part of it, even if it's just being a "lurker" for a while. Thanks for being such a great inspiration.

Kerry the tribute was perfect. It doesn't matter what your political views are or what state you live in as we are all AMERICANS!! The Kennedy family has been a part of American history for a very long time. His passing affects us all, just in different ways...your tribute was perfect. Thank you Kerry. Rest well Senator.

Kerry -

Beautiful card and well said sentiments. It is truly the end of an era.

Like an earlier poster, you need to send the card to the Kennedy family.

Well said! He was an extraordinary citizen and a man of the ordinary people. I just heard he was serving as a volunteer in the schools helping a little girl with her reading at the time that he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Thank you Massachusetts for electing him to serve in the Senate for those many years.

Hi Kerry,
You have made a lovely card for someone you greatly admire.
I am a Canadian - but admired Ted's long life in the Senate and what he tried to accomplish.
In times of sorrow we all should remember the good people have done with their lives.
Hugs, Candy

What an absolutely beautiful card in honor of an incredibly remarkable gentleman! Well done Kerry! A special tribute to our Senator! May God Bless Senator Ted Kennedy!

Beautiful card! You're right - he wasn't perfect but the good definitely outweighed the mistakes of his younger years. I would like to think that maybe both Dems and Reps would proceed with a little more civility in the health care debate, out of respect for Kennedy. That's probably too much to hope for, though. :-(
