Hello! Thanks for stopping by today!

So whadya think of today's challenge? Are you going to participate? I think this an interesting one! Elena came up with this week's theme. Thank You Elena! She's so clever. I am typing this post on Thursday evening...so I have not read the other Challenge team members posts about their cards yet. I have seen their cards, though. I am interested in finding out the stories behind each of their cards! And don't forget to include the association between your card and where you are from.

I was born, raised, and still live in Massachusetts. When I was thinking about this challenge, I originally thought I would make a card that had to do with Plymouth Rock or the Pilgrims. But I don't have any pilgrim stamps and a card with a rock on it is kind of had to dress up. lol. The state flower is the Mayflower, of course. No Mayflower stamps and I don't know what a mayflower even looks like. (I do now...I just Googled it!) The state bird is a Chickadee...But I don't have many bird stamps as I am not overly fond of birds. Well, I'd have to do some research as to what other Massachusetts state symbols are. In the meantime, I started to make this card using the Friday Sketchers sketch. I really like their sketches because they tend to do sketches that are suitable for larger images. Most of the images that I enjoy working with are pretty big. They also do mostly square cards, which are also my preference. (aaaahhh...sorry another tangent!) When I was nearly done with the card I thought how it reminded me of my house on Cape Cod. We bought the house from a contractor who had bought it to remodel and sell. It was a flip. So he had painted the inside all this neutral sandy beige color. I just left it, because we knew we were renting it and others would be staying there. And the color reminded me of the sand. So I bought all the bedroom linens and dishes and such in blues (water). I am actually quite pleased with the calm and beachy feeling that the house has without being overboard on the nautical theme. (yet another tangent! sorry) . So I thought then, that I would use this card as my card to represent Massachusetts. Our state knickname is The Bay State. And we do have Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. So do you think that I am stretching too much on this one? I will continue to look for ideas that may be appropriate to "where I am from". I have noticed that with most challenges (mine or otherwise) I come up with more stuff or find just the right _____ (fill in the blank with paper, embellies, stamps....etc...) AFTER the challenge is over. For example, do you remember the purple challenge? That one was tough for me...because although I love purple, I really didn't have much in supplies that was purple. I was stunned at myself! I never noticed this. So now, I am still always looking out for and buying purple supplies....needed or not! LOL! And I have made several purple cards since. :) So you just watch...I will be coming out with cards that have rocks on them! LOL!

Anyhoooo, already I have seen something that I would have liked to use on this card....Jacque posted a delightful card yesterday with a lighthouse on it from Magnolia-licious....I hadn't seen that before! Now I have to place an order and get it for myself. Even if I never use it! LOL! I NEED IT! You can find the direct links to the stamps that I did use in the recipe next to the pic.

For this card I used my poor sewing to my advantage. Since I was going for the shabby look, I purposely started making non-straight lines. I know that you probably can't see it that well in the pic. But I wanted to make sure that if you could, you knew I actually did this one this way on purpose!! LOL!

I know that you wouldn't want to leave without my weather report: RAIN! LOL! Actually, the news is that it's suppose to stop being as rainy. We MIGHT even get some sun. With only partly rainy days for the next week. Well, it's getting better! Someone mentioned that summer has officially begun...at least that's what I heard! LOL!

I hope that you have Sunshiny Day!!!

Kerry, you did a fab job with this sketch and Tilda looks so cool on that deck, enjoying summer. I love that SU! Parisian Breeze paper because it is textured and is so classy. Your coloring is just fab (as always) and I love the interesting story about where you come from. It's a beautiful place and someday I'd like to visit there. Don't be surprised if I CASE this card of yours and I do want to make more cards with this DSP. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, ideas, and talent. You truly inspire me! Hugs, Cami

I love your card and I think it is perfect for your home state. I went to Massachusetts many years ago (I'm in the UK so it's not nearby) and loved it. All the places you mentioned we went to - oh it brought back fab memories.
I think your card is perfect for the coastal feel of the state. It's just fab.
