It's Friday!! And (most) Fridays= Bloggers' Challenge day! Today's theme is Valentine.

I have made only 2 other cards with these kissing stamps. A Christmas/mistletoe one and another valentine...neither did I love. But I love the stamps. So I thought I would give it one last go for my last Valentine's card. I used a sketch provided by Cheryl Rowley. You know that I don't like to bore you with a step by step process of how I made a card, but I do want to point out that Tilda's dress and Edwin's vest are paper pieced. Also the base cardstock is Sahara Sand not gray. But it looks very gray in the pic. For those of you that do not speak in SU! colors Sahara sand is a unique color...kind of taupe-ish-gray...? Also, I am back to trying to sew on my cards. I used pink thread. It didn't seem to make too much of an impact though. But my lines are getting straighter! You just can't see them! LOL! In general I tried to keep this simple. Lately I feel like I have gone a little overboard. Then I have embellishment (or punch...or paper) regret. You know, when it all seemed like a good idea at the time...then a week later you look at the card again and think "what on earth was I doing?!"

Speaking of which, tonight I went through swaps from the past 4-5 years. Yeah, I am not kidding....4-5 YEARS! I have probably thousands of cards. It's crazy! While going through these I found lots of really nice "classic" cards. It was frustrating though when there were no names on the back. I put my "hallmark" on everything! So be sure you do too. I came across many a card that I made. Some from several years ago. Some from this past year. And I had many "what on earth was I doing?!" moments! LOL! Some of those cards are on this blog...YIKES! Should I go back and edit and delete? Nah...you can't change history...only improve the future. right? Just don't go back and look, ok?! hahahaha
Just like fashion, card making goes through fads. Some stick. Others...not so much. For example: Does anyone remember when we were embossing (or not) soda can tabs and using them on our cards as embellishments? I came across a pile of those...I remember doing that swap. Um, that was all fine and dandy, but you can imagine the people, who are NOT paper crafters, that we sent these cards too and what they were thinking? "what a lovely card from Kerry....is that a soda tab on there?" LOL! All right, I know that you are dying for a good chuckle so I will include a scan of that card. (according to the properties of the scan this was October 2004). Notice I even had some Magic Mesh on there?! Those were my watercolor pencil days. I have spent so much money on different coloring tools! I remember I was SO PROUD of this card. :P But if you notice, my style is really the same. Evolved a bit. (hopefully) But I have always liked cutesy images. I always go towards pinks and browns. Has your style changed drastically? What are your older cards like? Are you willing to share them on your blog? Leave me a link in the comments section if you do.

Have a Happy Valentine's Weekend!

Kerry - this is beautiful. Your image looks so sweet on your Bittersweet paper! Fantastic.

I think we all look back at our earlier cards and cringe. We all have to learn, right? :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi Kerry,

You may not have liked the first 2 cards you made with these stamps but you got it with this one for sure! Everything is just perfect. Just the right amount of everything and your colouring and paper pieceing is fantastic.

Sweet card! Love the paper piecing and I always love the blond hair you achieve! Yes, my style has changed somewhat, but I think the biggest difference is that I use better quality papers now! (And my Copics, of course!)
Happy valentine's Day, Kerry!

Such a cute card! And, I have looked back at my own creations and said...what was I thinking! The great thing is, we grow and mature in our art and look where we are now!

Love how they are "sitting" on the lace. Great coloring and the paper piecing is divine!
I do have to say that I was never caught up in the soda-tab craze (they always looked like soda tabs to me)-- but there are plenty of other crazes that I am guilty of!

I actually am doing a "series" on this right now on my blog called That was then, this is now. Where I take my old cards {shudder} and then make a new one with the same stamp. It's fun to see!
Love your cards--even your old one!!
Have a happy day!

I love the "simple" look of this, if you can call it that. It's gorgeous!

You are very brave. That card is nice but you certainly have evolved. I don't know if I could share any of mine. I gave a stack to my SIL so I don't have many left. I always use my personalized stamp.

So stinkin' cute! Love this image and all the ways you've used it.
I am too ashamed of my early cards to ever post them on my blog. I would have to hang up my apron.......

How sweet! Gotta love those images....they are all just adorable. (Nope, don't have any myself!) Isn't it fun to go down the stamping memory lane? I think any of us who have stamped for any length of time, eventually evolve. I think for myself, I've become much more conservative and I strive for a simpler, cleaner look. In the beginning, some of my creations were a little over the top!

Love the stripes with the plaid. So cute. And I so remember the soda tabs, too funny. I never really did it because I was too lazy to emboss it, lol. So I guess my style has not changed--I am still a lazy stamper.
