This post is 3-fer. I made this to 1) Wish you A Happy New Year! 2) The Blogger's Challenge #79 for this past Friday was "celebration" themed. 3) Mary Jo's Sketch challenge for today (TSSC50).

I have been checking out the other girls' cards from the bloggers challenge group and they are fab! Lots of FUN cards this week. Click on the BC button to the right and start checking them out too!

Then, hop on over to Mary Jo's blog to check out the original sketch for this week's card. Make your version and leave a link there!

I can't wait to mail this card off! I have spent way too long on it and got mediocre results. I am sick of looking at it! It all started off innocently enough. I had bought the Tilda, the glass and a Happy New Year when Magnolia released these. The glass is big enough for the kids (Tildas and Edwins) to sit on and I don't have a "Happy New Year Stamp". Then when I was buying my Shimmerz I saw the Blingz in a gold color that I thought would make a nice "champagne". While I was buying that I saw some ribbon in the color "champagne" that I may want to add to my New Year's card to be...but just in case I should buy this other ribbon too. At some point in my travels this shimmery cream and gold paper caught my eye. I am assuming I bought this paper for this card...it's not something I would normally just buy without a purpose...I wonder why I didn't buy 2 pieces...I usually buy 2+ of all designer paper.

On Satuday night I sat down to color my Tilda. hmmmm....I don't want to do a black dress...or a cream dress...what am I going to use...this paper won't mix with anything else I have. I only have 1001 different kinds of DP...poor me! And I don't want to do a black/white/red card. I am so sick of red. Plus, I don't have any paper that is suitable to do that. Oh forget it! I am going to make the Bun In The Oven card....hmmmmm, red will be perfect for that.

Fast forward to Sunday....ooooh! I know! I will make a black/white/purple card!! Purple is a fun color! And it is my favorite color! That will look great. Do you know that I have not one piece of PURPLE DP?! I have lots of lavenders....but not a true violet! Jeesh....what the heck!? All this paper and I've got diddly! So I am back to the Music paper. Oh! I know! I will use the embossing folders and do this and that, as well. I start coloring away. ooooh, I like my purple Tilda! I come upstairs to my computer to take a break and get an email from Kim about making a card for this week's sketch challenge from MJ. Good Grief! Is tomorrow Monday?! I have flaked the past few weeks on the sketch challenge, so maybe I better participate. I check out the sketch and decide I can work with it and my Tilda and my glass and my new sentiment and my musical paper. But where am I going to put the ribbon? Well the sheer ribbon doesn't really work for me anyhow. It is SO SHEER that it almost isn't there. :( The satin ribbon is just a bit to "pinkish" to fit. That's ok Lets stamp the sentiment. Wow...this is a BIG sentiment. I stamped it about 4 times on the reverse side of the music notes. It's a plain cream shimmery paper on that side. I cut it in a rectangle...I cut out an oval...twice...I tried it this way and that...it just didn't look good. I happen to find this other one in an old sentiment set I had. Figures. Now that I am using this sketch, Tilda will sit in the circle and not on the glass. Wait a second! That glass is going on this card! I bought it and it WILL go on this card. Plus I have the BLINGZ stuff to paint my champagne...

Anyhow, now I wish I just stuck with a black and cream card. I hate the glasses...but like I said, they was a glass filled with champagne going on there one way or another! I never used any of the ribbon. I used old cording. I never used my new sentiment. And I figured out that I only bought one sheet of this paper because it was $2 a sheet. and now most of it is in the trash with rejected "Happy New Years" stamped on the BACK side.

This is not what I orginally had in mind. I spent WAY too long on it and don't even love it. So the moral of the story is: if you are still reading this you have way too much time on your hands!!! You should be stamping! LOL! Happy New Year!!

OMG! You are too funny and I DO NOT have too much time on my hands, but I did read that whole post! I can't believe you have NO purple dp. What the heck, lol. And the best part is that I do love this card. It is perfect, but it should be after all that, lol! Great job, thanks so much for playing along.

I know how you feel. I do the same thing, buy all this stuff and then it doesn't turn out like I had imagined.
I don't care what you say, the card is beautiful, I really love it

You absolutely crack me up!! I feel that way about a lot of my cards, spend too much time on them, nothing works, want to get rid of it ASAP.

Anyway, I think the overall result of your card turned out well and every time I see purple I think of you!

Kerry,
I love your card and I understand your purple paper issue. I have lots of paper but never the exact one I need. For me it is just an excuse to get out and get more, you know I like to shop more than I like to use what I have.

I think your card is great! I love the glasses and the music paper.

Happy New Year to you!
