Shabby Chic Daisies

Stamps: Upsy Daisy by SU!; Butterfly by Purple Daisy Designs.
Paper: Pink Pirouette; Chocolate Chip; Kiwi Kiss; White; cardstock vellum
Ink: Red Ridinghood; Pink Piroette; Creamy Caramel
Other: Antique Brass Brads; Nesties; 5/8" grosgrain; corner punch; coordinating butterfly punch by EK success.

I probably would not have bought this set if it were not on sale. But it was on sale and I have seen so many pretty cards with it. So I mounted it and I conditioned them like Pat told me too. [And seriously it makes a huge difference on how your block image stamps stamp. I choose to do the sanding method]...but anyhow I got my stamps ready and tried something I had in my mind....I tried it several times, but it didn't work out the way I wanted. So then I was like: now what?

What I tried was tearing 3 different colors of DSP , layering them, then stamping over it. But where ever the tears would overlap the image wouldn't stamp. :( I even tried embossing it...but no go. So then I made this card. And as you all know I LOVE mixing and matching the Bella Rosa papers for a shabby chic look! But the image seemed like it was missing something...I dunno...so I moved on to another card.

When I finished both cards I decided it was time to finish up and go to bed. But as I was leaving I spotted a sheet of all these silver embossed butterflies that I had done over a year ago. I thought I would add a butterfly to my image. Then I remembered that I had a punch that coordinated with that stamp I bought....where is that butterfly stamp? You know what? It was actually where I thought I put it! that's a first! LOL! Silver just didn't go with my card so I dug out some brown EP that I have had for years....ummmm does embossing powder go off? Because this did not come out nicely...it kind of melted...like if you overcook cheese in the microwave....it got all bubbly then flattened. weird. So then I had to use copper. I punched out 3 and layered them.

So you want to know about this stamp and punch, right? I went to CK convention in Manchester, NH in May of 2007 and there were these Amish Ladies there. They had GORGEOUS samples! And lots of really pretty stamps too, a lot of them had punches that coordinated with them. Of course you had to buy a catalog as they don't have a website. No computer. No electricity! I mean seriously, how do they stamp by candlelight and have such gorgeous cards!? Unfortunately they were not at this years convention. Which is too bad because I left the convention with nothing but 3 pads 6x6 paper...I had money to give the Amish Stamp Ladies. So since I was going to post about them, I took a gander and googled them. They do have this webpage with contact info on it and a few pics. They have beautiful stamps and are worth contacting to order a catalog. If I am ever in or around Greencastle, PA, I am so there!
Have a great day!!

Wow--I didn't know about stamp conditioning until I read this post and followed the link--I'm going to have to try that on some of my block stamps! The card is beautiful. I just may have to buy that set.
